What specific issues do you see within your college (CAHSS, CEHSP, LSBE, or SCSE)?
Within CAHSS, some of the main issues that I see are issues of visibility, both on a local and national level. I think some ways to promote our college are reaching out to organizations around the Twin Ports and beyond. Showing the talent that we have here can bring more job opportunities for students during and after their time here at UMD. Another thing that I am currently working on is bringing a CAHSS-focused career fair to UMD. When career fairs come to UMD, they are often STEM-focused and do not have a lot of options for CAHSS-related fields. The closest thing we have to an adequate career fair is to travel to the Twin Cities campus, and that takes away the whole day of classes. I would like to change this and organize a career fair that is CAHSS disability-focused.
As a Senator, you meet with your college Deans monthly, how would you voice the concerns of constituents to your Deans? And how do you plan to open the connection between your Deans to the rest of the student body?
One thing that I would like to start implementing is a form of anonymous box where CAHSS students can put their comments and concerns. The 2 CAHSS senators would oversee this, and concerns would be brought to the deans in order to address some of the changing concerns of the student body. I also think that being open to discussing any issues that students have is vital to my position as a senator. It's important to be honest with the student body and be an advocate for their voices. I also think that working with the dean's office to make the space more open and accessible to the student population would be a benefit to both parties.
Senators sit on the University and Student Senates and work together to solve issues around the system. How might you work with other senators, either on your campus or from another campus, to solve problems across the different campuses of the University of Minnesota?
I would work with other senators and university bodies in a compromising manner. I will work with individuals to identify a common goal and get it accomplished. Specifically identifying goals based on what can be done and what might take a longer time/more money. In this time of budget constraints its important to work together to develop new ways of income for projects. But I believe that if everyone works together, we will have no problem finding a solution to this issue.

Describe the relationship between Student Government Association and the student body. Explain how you as a leader and a member of this collaborative organization might strengthen and/or maintain this relationship.
The goal of SGA is to be the voice of the student body. We often talk about how we are the bridge between students and administration, and this is very true. My goal as a leader in SGA is to provide students with the resources they need to be successful here at UMD. This means being educated on who to go to for a specific matter and providing correct contact information for those specific people. Another goal is to make the campus a safe and fun environment for everyone. Its important to feel included in the unique college culture that we have here on campus and the first step is to be welcoming and nice to all students.
Diversity of opinion is one of Student Government Association’s most important characteristics. In many cases, you will have individuals expressing opinions that are different from your own. How might this idea be beneficial when making critical decisions for the organization and the student body? How might you handle a situation like this as a representative?
I think one of the many things that is great about SGA is the diversity. We want students who represent the student body. It's important to have separate ideas from your own. For me, I would take into account what is best for the student's body and what option or idea would have the most impact on the students. I think different opinions would be beneficial to our organization. We don't want one person or group of people having the same ideas over and over again.
