FAQs
How Does Bulldog Lyft Work?
Student Government Association works with Lyft to bring everyone that pays Student Service Fees a complimentary monthly pass up to $8. At the start of every month, students will receive an email with their pass that is available to use at their convenience in the Duluth area. Our goal is to provide students with safe, reliable transportation for times when the DTA or personal transportation may not be available.
Why can’t I use my pass?
Occasionally, we have to pause passes for the month due to lack of funding. Bulldog Lyft is completely funded from Student Service Fee allocation, meaning we must work within a budget each month. If more students use their Bulldog Lyft passes than expected, we either have to lower the amount on the pass or pause the program for the remainder of the month to avoid over-spending.
Already used your pass for the month? Students are only allowed one pass per month.
Will passes be available all the time?
Passes should be available every full month students are on campus during the typical school season (September-April) and can be used at all times that Lyft is running. Passes will not be available for the months of August, December, January, and May. Bulldog Lyft will be paused during these months because of the decline in student population during breaks. The money that would be saved for those months is redistributed to periods with heavier use of the passes.
If the planned budget runs out for a month, passes will be paused immediately. Pay close attention to our social media accounts to learn about pauses on the program.
What if my ride costs more than the pass covers?
You can still use your Bulldog Lyft pass, but you will have to pay the remaining amount out-of-pocket.
Having financial difficulties? Consider taking public transportation through the DTA that offers free rides for all students who have paid their student service fees. SGA will join you for a ride on the DTA during our regularly-held Bus Buddies events. Visit Bulldog Connect to see when we host those events.

I love Bulldog Lyft but wish I could always rely on it! How do I get more reliable passes in the future?
Let SGA and upper administration know how much you love it! We completely rely on Student Service Fee allocation to fund Bulldog Lyft. While not guaranteed, the more you love it and use it, the more likely the program is to get more funding in the future. More funding means more reliable monthly passes.
