Freshman Elections

How the Process Works:

Once applications open, you will have the opportunity to complete the Google Forms and provide answers that will appear on your candidate information page. This is your chance to stand out from the competition, so make sure to take your time and put thoughtful effort into your responses.

Additionally, you will be required to complete a digital signature form when submitting your application.

An online election will be held on September 22nd and 23rd, open to all UMD Freshmen for voting. Voting stations will be set up in the Kirby Tabling Area (in front of the bookstore) from 9 AM to 3 PM on both days, and the digital ballot will be posted here. Winners will be notified of their victory via email.

Your Responsibilities:

As a student leader, you will be responsible for representing your fellow classmates and advocating for their concerns on issues affecting both them and the entire campus. If elected, you will become a voting member of the Student Government Association Congress, which meets every Monday at 6 PM in the Kirby Rafters. These meetings provide a platform for discussing and addressing issues, allowing us to work together as a group to find solutions.

To learn more about the specific responsibilities of Freshman Representatives, please review the UMDSGA Constitution and UMDSGA Bylaws to familiarize yourself with the roles.

How to Get Started:

  1. Submit your application and completed digital signature petition by 5 PM on Tuesday, September 16th, to run for Freshman Representative at Large.
